Use this checklist to select a remodelor you can trust with your most valuable asset.

* Does the remodelor have a permanent business location and a good reputation with local banks and suppliers?

* How long has the remodelor been in business?  It usually takes three to five years to establish a financially sound business.

* Does the remodelor have proof of workers compensation and general liability insurance?  If not you may be liable for any construction related accidents on your premises.  Have the Remodelor's insurance company mail you a certificate of insurance naming you as the certificate holder.

* Have you seen the Remodelor's work, both completed and in progress?  Check for workmanship and materials.

* Are you able to communicate easily with the remodelor?  Good communication is the key to a successful project.

* Will the remodelor provide you with names of previous clients?  Ask if they would hire the same remodelor again.

* Do you feel comfortable with the remodelor?  Remember, you will be in close contact with him and will share your home with the work team until the project is completed.
